  • New advisors include StartCon founder Cheryl Mack, and deepen sector expertise
  • Revamped board well placed to help Vloggi navigate crucial next phase of development

SYDNEY, September, 2019– Video content marketing platform Vloggi has welcomed four of Australia’s top startup minds to its expanded advisory board, adding to an already impressive team of leading innovators and business veterans to help drive the company through its next phase of development.

Cheryl Mack, former CEO of Australia’s largest startup conference and exhibition StartCon, brings a wealth of experience, insights and industry contacts, as well as the distinction of being amongst the most respected and influential women in local – and international – tech sectors.

Currently NSW State Manager with the Australian Computer Society (ACS), Mack has played a central role in supporting and raising awareness of Australia’s tech startup space, including having been an advisor for programs within the City of Sydney’s Tech Startups Action Plan. In addition, she created and presided over the country’s biggest startup prize.

She previously founded the Vancouver chapter of Startup Grind and was also a director of Sydney’s Startup Grind chapter for over a year.

“Like all great startups, Vloggi solves a real business problem; the ability to source and curate authentic video content from anywhere to drive more effective marketing and communications without the typical complexity and expense,” Mack said. “It’s a world-first we’re hoping will help further reinforce Australia’s reputation for outstanding innovation.”

Joining Mack on the Vloggi advisory board is startup and tech industry veteran, Mike Sager. An accomplished tech entrepreneur, Sager is the co-founder of successful pet startup Pawssum, which has redefined how pet owners connect with and interact with vets.

In addition, he has a wealth of commercial enterprise experience having held senior roles with the likes of Siteminder, VMware, Sun Microsystems and Dell, while also being an active member of Australia’s not-for-profit sector.

Matthew Tati joins the Vloggi advisory board as a veteran of both the travel and tech industries in Australia, with a particular focus on mobility. Tati currently serves as co-chair of the Start-up and Innovation workstream for the Internet-of-Things Alliance Australia (IoTAA), and is the founder and managing director of Sydney-based IoT consultancy, Milcane, helping Australian startups in the IoT space bring their ideas to market.

Rounding out the new-comers, Vloggi is also proud to welcome Brendan Hill, independent angel investor and sought-after consultant to its new advisory board. Hill is co-founder and director with Sydney-based blockchain advisory group Coin Benchmark, a University of NSW startup mentor and the host of the Metigy Growth Marketing podcast series.

“We’ve understood from the beginning that having the right people is as important as having great technology,” said Vloggi founder and CEO Justin Wastnage. “And with today’s announcement, some of the best startup and tech talent in Australia have now joined the team, we’re confident of having achieved both.”

The four new strategic advisors will join an existing advisory board that comprises SmartCompany Top Women Entrepreneur Penny Spencer, online payments specialist Oliver Tams, start-up advisor Matt Trustrum, digital IP specialist Michael Spencer, mobile phone advertising pioneer Andrew Scarborough, broadcaster Rowan Barker and strategic partnerships specialist Fergus Park.

Vloggi is the only platform currently on the market which allows organisations and marketing teams to create, edit and distribute organic user-generated video content at scale, creating a powerful alternative to the expensive and complicated offerings typically proposed by full-service marketing agencies.

The company also recently released a major update to the platform based around team collaboration in video production. The newest release includes key new capabilities expected to encourage even stronger interest especially in its key target markets of travel and publishing.

About Vloggi

Founded in 2018, Sydney tech startup Vloggi is the world’s first collaborative video production platform using AI to process, sort and annotate user-generated video for use by businesses and social groups. It is a registered trademark of parent company, tech investment vehicle Ciné Souk, founded in 2017.

The company was founded by Justin Wastnage, a former director of the Tourism & Transport Forum, and founder of the Flight TV aviation video channel. Wastnage started his career with interactive digital television pioneer Static 2358 (later PlayJam) before creating video content for Microsoft. The company also includes lead developer Tim Revell, who holds the patent for the first video streaming service over mobile telephones.

Vloggi employs six staff, and is based out of the Fishburners co-working space within the Sydney Startup Hub (SSH).
