Lights, action, woof! Can dogs now make professional videos?

Well, perhaps not quite, at least as far as we’re aware!

But dog owners throughout Australia who have never made proper videos before are using Vloggi to shoot and combine great footage of their own furry friends and sharing with members of Australian online dog community, Pupsy, to create instant video reviews.

Pupsy is a digital platform for dog owners to find, book and review dog-friendly places across Australia.

A bit like Tripadvisor, just a little furrier, dog owners can choose from thousands of dog-friendly cafés, bars and wineries to visit, book dog friendly accommodation, explore off-leash parks and beaches, and many other things.

“We help dog owners to spend more quality time with their dogs by including them more on their social lives and holidays”

Summary

Pupsy is a digital platform for dog owners to find, book and review dog-friendly places across Australia

The platform has more than 15,000 subscribers and over 40,000 monthly visits on its website.

Pupsy uses Vloggi to crowdsource video clips from its community of dog-owners and compile into destination guides and venue reviews.

The challenge

Nordstrom notes the biggest challenge for the platform and the business is to find cost-effective  ways to reach new audiences, key to which is generating new content on the platform in ways that are not overly difficult or onerous.

While everyone likes images of dogs some even more so than cats! the fact most people now carry a high-res video camera in their pockets is inspiring them to create actual movies to share, and remember their canine friends by.

“We see video becoming increasingly important going forward, particularly in allowing each dog owner to share theirs and their pooches’ personal experiences”

But few people today understand how quick, easy and cheap it is to create professional-looking videos.

The solution

Pupsy uses Vloggi to crowdsource video clips from its community of dog-owners and compile into destination guides and venue reviews.

Pupsy created three video series, each with its own opening sequence, but retaining Pupsy’s look-and-feel throughout.

Vloggi is the world’s first and only truly collaborative video production platform allowing consumers to shoot and brands to use their clips to produce professional looking videos with minimal effort, skill and with little or zero cost.

For an online community group looking to amplify its message, like Pupsy, Vloggi is a powerful tool for generating large volumes of video stories. Pupsy is now able to create video reviews of every listing and embed in its site, as well as create highlight reels for sharing across social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn.

Pupsy’s online community of dog owners simply upload multiple 10-15 second videos clips from their phone to the platform via upload.vloggi.com. Pupsy’s marketing team then selects the best clips to merge into Pupsy episodes.

Vloggi’s custom templates are tailored to each brand and allow marketing teams to create professional videos with no editing software with features including:

  • Automatic location detection and on-screen display
  • Contributor shout-outs via on-screen credits
  • Question and answer fields for personalised video
  • Automatic clip sequencing in chronological order
  • Automatic video listicle making technology

The result

Nordstrom says having the ability to generate great looking videos at scale on the platform has strengthened the sense of community for Pupsy, while making the platform more fun, engaging and ultimately more useful and informative for members.

“We combine our members’ video clips into our custom Vloggi template to make episodes. We then embed the episodes on our site as additional visual content for other dog owners. We create competitions to solicit the uploads, but ultimately we use Vloggi as a means to maintain activity and engagement across all our social media channels.”

There are many video platforms currently on the market, but none with the unique combination of features offered by Vloggi.  For example, in addition to needing to match its brand colours, fonts and logo, Pupsy also wanted to animate its dog pawprint icon between scenes, so it ordered a fully custom video template.

In addition to needing to match its brand colours, fonts and logo, Pupsy also wanted to animate its dog pawprint icon between scenes, so its marketing team worked with Vloggi’s video graphics team to create a fully custom video template.

“We need our content to be visually impactful, but also unusable by others in the market,” said Nordstrom.

Pupsy also wanted the ability to add sponsors’ logos to the end frame of each series. Pupsy has three series, Dog friendly beaches, Dog friendly parks & walks and Dog friendly pubs & bars. Each series has a unique closing screen with the sponsor logo featured.

“We chose Vloggi as it’s a fast and easy way for our members to upload their clips and then easy for us to create great looking, fun and engaging video stories without needing any video editing skills, and for very little cost”
